APTA-The Alberta Provincial Trapshooting Association is a recognized state of the ATA, and the culmination of the works and development by the state delegation from the ATA to provide support and governance to American Style Trapshooting in Alberta.
It is a non-profit society which began in the early 1900's and officially indoctrinated into a society in 1952, it is operated and maintained by a volunteer board of directors dedicated to the growth and posterity of the sport both in Alberta and throughout the ATA.

The Board of Directors is selected through nomination and voted by the membership at the annual general APTA meeting during the Provincial Championship Tournament. The board is to provide leadership and support to the trapshooting community in Alberta. The directors are nominated through contribution and skill set to manage, develop and maintain our sport in Alberta. Please feel free to speak with any of the APTA board members about our sport, or for any shoot related questions or suggestions you may have.
ATA- The Amateur Trapshooting Association serves as a faithful protector and promoter of the sport of trapshooting globally. As the largest clay target shooting organization in the world, the ATA governs the sports rules and regulations while seeking ways to further enhance the sport and increase membership and participation. The ATA was founded in 1900 as the American Trapshooting Association and later changed to its current name and state in 1923.
The ATA board of directors is composed of state and provincial delegates the govern all ATA policy matters in their respective zones. The executive committee is comprised of one representative from each of the five zones, to provide stewardship for the association throughout the trapshooting season. An executive director and a team of professionals at the national headquarters in Sparta Illinois guide the organizations day to day business. Sparta is home to the annual World Trapshooting Championships, which draws more than 4000 competitors, vendors and spectators each year, featuring some of the most talented shooters in the world!
