A belated congratulations to our Alberta All Americans Dianne Peyton, Allan Radway, and Jim Thomson, all repeats from 2015, and to our newest member Bert Brumwell who was second in the chair category.

We are pleased to announce that Bayer has again stepped forward and agreed to sponsor the banquet at the Provincial Championships in Edmonton.  Thank you Bayer for again providing this important sponsorship.  You can thank Bayer for this generous gesture by supporting the Bayer line of agricultural and pharmaceutical products whenever you can.

Great news for the ATA in that the Grand American will be continuing at Sparta as planned. Despite ongoing budget issues in Illinois the ATA executive director Lyn Gipson and ATA executive have negotiated an agreement with the Illinois department of Natural Resources and if the state budget is not settled by April the ATA will make the necessary arrangements to have the facility active through the spring and summer shooting season. Good job by all involved.

As of this time in late January, Alberta shooting is being represented across the ocean as All Americans Art and Dianne Peyton are in New Zealand on a holiday and shooting tour.  They took their Kolars, so we see how they make out in the tough competition of “down the line” shooting in New Zealand.

As this is written our Canadian dollar is in the 70 cent range vs U.S. currency.  This devaluation certainly will have an impact on our Canadian shooters competing at stateside shoots this year, but it still appears we will have a good turnout from Alberta at the Spring Grand, which is right around the corner.

Remember the Junior clinic with Rachel Hopkins prior to the Provincial in Edmonton, as of today there are still a couple of spots available for this great opportunity.  Keep up to date with progress on this event and the many others happenings in Alberta trapshooting on shootalberta.com.  I look forward to seeing many of you in person as the trapshooting season starts this spring.
