June 2016 alberta trap & field report

Alberta trapshooting activities and accomplishments

June has been an active month for Alberta shooting, weather has co-operated and shooting is up relative to the same time in 2015.  Hopefully it keeps going this way and we continue with increased numbers in the very busy time frame at the end of June and July.

In recent activity out of province, Alberta again had a solid attendance at the Western Grand in Vernal with 7 attendees, most of who picked up trophies at some point in the shoot.  Some great scores including a 99 in cap by Art Peyton. Congratulations to Brad Johnson who shot 97 and 98 in Vernal and made the 27 for the first time, welcome to the pit Brad!  Often the fun is over when you get there!  Jim Thomson dominated Sub Vet championship targets in Utah State this year, taking singles, doubles and HAA.  It was a successful ending for the trapshooting adventure Jim and Larry Ivany undertook, which included the Western Grand, Pennsylvania State and Utah State shoots .  Ask for the details when you see them!

We have just learned that Dave Fuller, gunsmith, avid hunter and trapshooter has passed away after extended illness. Dave was a frequent visitor at the Calgary Firearms Centre, his presence will be missed.  Please see Dave's Obituary info here.

A very busy month ahead, including Montana state, Western Zone, Provincial and the Grand … I hope to see many of you over the next few weeks.

If there are points of interest, highlights or “firsts”  from your local shoots please let me know so we can get it in print . If there are questions give me a call or get hold of me at
