Alberta Provincial Trapshooting Association

This is written at the end of March, weather is starting to improve and by the time of publication shooting will be in full swing in Alberta.
The snowbirds are just finishing up the last major Arizona tournament for the winter, the State shoot in Tucson.  Weather has been fabulous, and a there are Alberta winners, but not as many as usual as the competition is very tough. Allan Radway is our big winner taking home out of state Championship Vet doubles with a lone 99. Art Peyton made it to a shoot-off in the sub Vet Handicap with a 95, but slipped a couple early.
If you are on the ATA website, check out the All American Points in the Chair category.  We have a serious contender this year with Bert Brumwell off to a great start with his many wins at the Spring Grand.  Keep it up Bert!

For those who have not been on our website recently (shootalberta.com) go in and take a look.  There is up to date info on shooters, shooting  events, and newly added is a look  Alberta shooting history through past reports.  There are provincial shoot reports and T and F articles going back to 1960, and some interesting pictures of some of our former and current shooters in their earlier years.  This is part of the revamping of the APTA Hall of fame, which is well under way.  Trevor Kuhn has taken lead on this important project, and received a lot of help from Bob Gruszecki.  The search is under way for some of the older trophies of past years, and the refurbishing of others that require it.  You can help with this project. For $100 you can become a APTA  Hall of Fame sponsor and receive a unique sponsorship pin and certificate and the knowledge you are helping preserve Alberta Trapshooting heritage.  You can purchase on line, or contact and APTA director to contribute.

Remember to book your spot for the Provincial, we again have the gold coin, the Martin Lewis, and a great program that will be enjoyed by all.  Basis feedback to  date we expect another increase in out of Province participation which will add to the excitement.

I look forward to renewing acquaintances with our Alberta shooters during the next few months, and in the meantime if there is information to be shared, get hold of me at hillgarry62@gmail.com
