Old but exciting shooting news I forgot to mention earlier was the win by our up and coming star in Women’s International Trap, Amanda Obrigewich. Canada now has earned a quota spot for Clay Target at the Olympic games in 2017 by winning the Pan Am gold medal. Tina and Brian are very proud, as is the rest of our shooting fraternity of Amanda bringing home the quota.

Alberta is also pleased to announce the 2015 Alberta All Star Team.
Calculations are based on composite ATA averages for 2015 target year; a minimum of 1000 singles, 1000 handicap and 700 doubles for teams, and a minimum of 700 singles, 700 handicap and 500 doubles for Lady 1 and 2, Sub Junior, Junior, Junior Gold, Sub-Vet, Vet and Senior Vet High Category average.  50%  of minimums must be shot in Alberta.

Youth shooting will receive a shot in the arm next year in Alberta, with most clubs now completing the successful Ron Mcconnell Youth Shooting Initiative for 2015.  These extra funds will help fund young shooters in 2016, and stay tuned for more exciting news for youth training in Alberta for 2016.

Finalization is imminent at the Medicine Hat club on purchase of city property on which the gun club operates.  This will achieve the club objective of securing long-term future access to the property the need to operate comfortably.    Progress is also being made on fundraising to finance the electrical transmission lines required for club operations, as a result of loosing power access from Canadian Fertilizers.  The impact of the twin projects is having a significant financial impact on the club, so if you have a desire to help financially give Harold Schwandt a call in Medicine Hat.

The 2016 Alberta shooting schedule is now in place, check it out on shootAlberta.com, and start getting ready for the Provincial Championships in Edmonton in 2016!
